The Austin-Round Rock metro area continues to grow at a rapid pace, and two recent studies have shown that this growth is affecting both the larger cities in this area as well as the smaller outlying towns. Zippia, a career expert website, studied a total of 3,334 cities in the U.S. for their two separate reports.
Round Rock, Texas earned a spot on their list for the country’s fastest growing (large) cities. For this report, Zippia looked at the 303 U.S. cities whose population is at least 100,000. The growth rate used was based off of the years 2010 to 2014, which is the most recently available data. Round Rock came in at #9 on the list. Two additional Texan cities made it into the Top 10: Frisco and neighboring McKinney, both just north of Dallas, came in at #2 and #6 (respectively).
Moving onto the list of 10 Fastest Growing Small Cities in America, you’ll find Hutto, Texas, which is 22 miles northeast of Austin, making it to #7. For this study, Zippia looked at all 3,031 small cities in America, with populations between 5,000 and 100,000. Again, growth rates between 2010 and 2014 were used. During this short span of time, Hutto managed to more than double in size, with a 53 percent increase in its population!
