Merck Expands Into Austin, Texas

Merck will tap into Austin's thriving technology, academic and biotech communities.




Merck, a leading biopharmaceutical company, will be expanding into the Austin, Texas area.  Merck operates in more than 140 countries, discovering health solutions for multiple avenues of healthcare including: prescription medicine, vaccines, biologic therapies and animal health products.

Merck IT is the division of Merck looking to Austin for their expansion.  Merck IT develops technology to support the invention of these medicines, and how to increase the ways in which the product is able to reach to the consumer. 

Those proficient in the information technology industry can become part of the Merck IT team, and be part of their solutions for data science, analytics, machine learning, cyber security, agile software development and architecture.

“We look forward to working with the innovative and collaborative community in Austin, including Dell Medical School and the Austin Healthcare Council.  Our goal is that, together, we can connect technology and science to invent medicines and vaccines to help improve or salve people’s lives,” says Clark Golestani, President of Emerging Business and Global CIO at Merck.

Merck is currently exploring space in the downtown Austin area – which will be their newest tech innovation hub.
