Neighborhood Spotlight: North University

In the North Central Austin area, there’s a community with abundant bars, restaurants, coffee shops and parks. Known as the North Campus area, residents there enjoy close proximity to the University of Texas at Austin and to downtown. Public schools in the area are highly rated. North Austin has an urban feel and most residents in the area rent their homes.

A few blocks away, there are older subdivisions and student housing complexes are scattered throughout. It’s a very walkable area, so pedestrians and cyclists abound. They are likely on their way to the campus or heading to one of the many popular hangouts in the area.

Trudy's Restaurant, famed for its Mexican martinis, attracts a steady crowd. A popular watering hole is the homey Crown and Anchor Pub. During Christmastime, the 37th Street light spectacular entices thousands of visitors to North University.
