Newcomers to the Austin area are often eager to find a home in a neighborhood conveniently located to the thriving city center and that also offers a character unique to the metro. Because of that, older neighborhoods with a good selection of original housing stock are still popular with home buyers. For a distinctly Austin neighborhood with ease of access to downtown and major thoroughfares, Rosewood makes for an ideal Austin community.
A Brief History of Rosedale
Located in the northern part of Central Austin, Rosewood is a charming community with a long history in the area. The community started as farm and dairy land in the 1860’s and in the 1900’s, four florists and nurseries found their home in the area. They brought with them much of the nursery stock that has now become the many large and lovely trees throughout the neighborhood.
Rosedale Homes for Sale
Homes in the neighborhood were mostly built during the 1930’s and 1940’s and have been influenced by changing architectural styles throughout the decades. Currently, the popularity of home renovations gives the neighborhood a sense of vitality and renewal. Throughout the community, one can find cottage bungalows with stone facades shaded by mature trees on small lots. Many of the renovated homes have an added living space on the upper level. Additionally, the landscaping designs on the different lots helps to make Rosedale unique.
Community Amenities and Nearby Entertainment
Perhaps the most appealing feature of the community, however, is the proximity to Downtown Austin as well as other entertainment and shopping. Residents have easy access to the pubs and restaurants within the nearby Triangle Park development. For the home cook, a nearby Central Market offers quality seasonal foods from around the world as well as on-site cooking classes for sharpening culinary skills.
For outdoor recreation, Ramsey Park lies within the Rosedale neighborhood and offers a swimming pool, tennis courts, a toddler playground as well as a regular playground. Additionally, the park features a basketball court, baseball diamond and picnic areas with barbecue facilities. With so many community amenities, Rosedale is an ideal neighborhood for anyone looking for a unique neighborhood with convenient entertainment and amenities.
