Named after Tanglewood Park on Slaughter Lane, Tanglewood Forest is one of Austin’s most established neighborhoods. It is conveniently located 14 miles from Downtown Austin and the same distance to the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. If you’re looking for a cozy home with a spacious and open feel, then Tanglewood Forest homes for sale could be perfect for you!
Tanglewood Forest Homes
Homes in Tanglewood Forest have an average build date of 1983. The home designs offer a variety of styles from ranch to traditional suburban in 1 and 2-story configurations. Exteriors usually feature brick and stone and the homes sit on about quarter-acre lots.
If you like mature landscaping, then you’ll love the Tanglewood Forest neighborhood! Since it is a more established neighborhood, the lots offer an abundance of mature trees. Covered front porches on many of the homes offer homeowners a chance to enjoy their outdoor spaces in front. Covered backyard patios provide plenty of space for private outdoor entertaining.
Inside, the homes average 1,500 square feet. Typically, the floorplans offer 3-4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Open floor plans offset the modest square footage to create a sense of space. Large kitchens that overlook combined eating and living areas lend to the spacious atmosphere. Many of the homes have been updated with new fixtures, upgraded flooring and paint.
Tanglewood Forest is served by the Austin ISD. The elementary schools are either Cowan Elementary (PK-5) or Kocurek Elementary (PK-5). For middle school, the neighborhood students attend Bailey Middle (6-8). High School students attend Akins High School (9-12), which boasts a great reputation for its award winning marching band and journalism programs. Private school options include a less than 4-mile drive to Bannockburn Christian Academy (PK-5) and Primrose School of Shady Hollow (K).
Entertainment and Recreation
Within the community, Tanglewood Forest residents enjoy a community pool, tennis courts, jogging trails, and children’s playscape. Additional outdoor recreation can be enjoyed at Bauerle Ranch Park and Mary Moore Searight Metropolitan Park, which are each less than 3 miles away from the community. Shopping and casual eateries are less than 4 miles away at Southpark Meadows, one of Austin’s largest retail areas.
