Texas Stars Hockey
Congratulations to our Texas Stars on winning the 2014 Calder Cup Championship! The Texas Stars represent the Austin area in professional ice hockey as a member of the American Hockey League (AHL). This is their first time to bring home the honor. The Calder Cup is the second oldest professional ice hockey playoff trophy after the Stanley Cup.
The Texas Stars franchise have been in their current incarnation since only 2010 and are the primary affiliate of the famous Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing all of their home games at the 8,700-seat Cedar Park Sports Center, they’ve also won the AHL's 2013-2014 Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the regular season points champions.
Forward Toby Petersen had this to say on winning the Calder Cup, "It was all the come-from-behind wins we had. Willie [Desjardins, then head coach] kept telling us that teams couldn't keep up with us... If we worked hard all the way through from the beginning, we would eventually prevail. When that started happening we were down two or three goals and we were coming back to win those games that's when I knew we had something special."
An exciting team to watch, they have qualified four times previously for the Calder Cup Playoffs and won the Western Conference Championship twice. You can find their full 76-game schedule and reserve your season, group, club, and VIP passes at TexasStars.com. Single game tickets can be on purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
