Williamson County commissioners authorized hiring an engineering firm Feb. 21 to study three dams within the county, two of which suffered damage by flooding in recent years.

After an 18-month process, the Lower Colorado River Authority board approved 10–5 a Water Management Plan and Drought Contingency Plan on Feb. 22.

On Feb. 21, Lakeway City Council approved amending its noise ordinance to require certain businesses to get a permit to have amplified outdoor sound.

Ashton Woods Homes plans to begin construction of Ridgeview, a subdivision of 165 single-family homes on 93 acres east of South View Road near West Hwy. 290. Workers cleared land and did site work there in January.

Austin’s Mueller development will get its first hotel next year when Marriott opens a Residence Inn in the area.

Jason Schnurr plans to open Reunion Grille at 1501 E. New Hope Drive, Cedar Park, in late spring. The eatery will serve lunch and dinner and feature live music. Schnurr is behind several Austin restaurants, such as Malaga, Cedar Street Courtyard and Moonshine.

Georgetown ISD school board members approved new elementary school attendance zones that will go into effect in the 2012–13 school year, as well as a plan to transition Frost Elementary School into a kindergarten through fifth-grade campus.

The Georgetown ISD board of trustees approved the district’s 2012–13 school year calendar at its regular meeting Feb. 21.
